Forums could reshape area's healthcare

Two community healthcare forums have been set in Liberty County for next week.
They are in different locations too make them more accessible. The first will be on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Fraser Counseling Center at 203 Mary Lou Dr. in Hinesville. The second will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the multi-purpose community center on Highway 17 in Riceboro.
Residents in each of these areas often deal with different healthcare needs and the 80-minute forums give them an opportunity to share concerns and recommend resources for their local and regional healthcare system.
Sponsored by the Three Ring Healthcare Consortium, the forums are part of an assessment phase that will provide data for planning a regional healthcare system. Participation in these activities and formulation of a sustainable plan will allow the consortium to apply for implementation funding in the fall.
The project is funded by a Safety Net Planning Grant from the Office of Rural Health, Georgia Department of Community Health.
Questions may be directed to Annie Washington, nurse manager at the Liberty County Health Department, 876-2173, or to Linda Ratcliffe at 876-2173, ext. 236.

Professionals too
Also next week, Liberty County healthcare professionals are invited to a short luncheon in the Liberty Regional Medical Center classroom 1 on Thursday at noon.
The event is sponsored by the consortium and is an opportunity for healthcare workers to use their knowledge and experiences to help shape a new regional healthcare system.
Seating is limited so anyone wishing to attend should RSVP by Tuesday, Feb. 5, to Linda Ratcliffe at 876-2173, ext. 236.
