If you are looking for something to do over the Christmas holidays, there are plenty of activities in Ludowici and Long County, and it all begins this week.
The Miss Christmas Holiday Pageant was Sunday at the Long County Senior Citizen Center.
On Tuesday, the Long County Chamber of Commerce will have its annual holiday fundraiser and auction to help graduating seniors from the area. A meal will be served followed by an auction with all proceeds going toward scholarships for graduating teens. This year, it will be at First Baptist Church of Ludowici on Highway 301 beginning at 6 p.m. The meal costs $15. If you wish to attend, RSVP by calling 912-545-2392.
On Thursday, the annual Ludowici Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place at the Old Well Pavilion at the corner of Main and McQueen streets. It begins at 6 p.m., and there will be free refreshments available. Santa Claus also will be on hand to take pictures with the kids and hear what they want for Christmas.
Also on Thursday, the Blue Tide Winter Concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. at A New Beginning Church on Highway 57. Performances include the Blue Tide Choir, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band and a special holiday finale. There is no charge for the event, and all are welcome.
On Saturday, the annual Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade will take place at 2 p.m. Lineup will take place at 1 p.m. at Long County Middle School. For more information, call 912-545-0015.
For those who wish to enjoy a little more musical entertainment, on Thursday, Dec. 17, the Long County Middle School Band will give its winter concert. It will begin at 7 p.m. in the school’s gymnasium. Admission is free.
Any Long County senior citizen, disabled person, individual or family who is having financial difficulties during the holidays and needs help is encouraged to go to the United Way Free Food Giveaway from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the Liberty County Performing Arts Center, 2140 East Oglethorpe Highway in Hinesville.
