Nine-year-old Amaya Ruiz met Mayor James Fuller at the November Ludowici City Council meeting, and she let him know she has her sights set on his office.
Amaya and her mother, Kristina, are friends with Councilwoman Kathy Phillips. When Phillips ran for office last year, Amaya became interested in politics. After the meeting, Fuller talked to his new friend about politics and told her how proud he is of her for being interested in serving the community. Ruiz told Fuller that she won’t be able to run against him in the next election because she’s still in school, but when she grows up, she plans to run for mayor of Ludowici. Fuller told the Walker Elementary School student that if she continues to get good grades, she can reach any goal she sets.
