Sgt. Carlos Gomez was honored during Tuesday’s Rotary meeting as the Soldier of the Month for August. Gomez joined the Army in April 2002, and was assigned to Company A USAG Hunter Army Airfield as a senior parachute packer in April 2006. His short-term goal is to focus on his military career by earning the next rank of staff sergeant and he plans to be a career soldier, aiming for the top rank of command sergeant major. Gomez’s long-term goal is to pursue a college degree in general studies. He and his wife have two children and reside in Savannah.
