The rock band Blues Traveler will be the headline act of the 16th annual Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival presented by Southern Eagle Distributing, organizers announced Friday.
The band will play in Richmond Hill on Oct. 18 and the date is already on the group’s website.
According to Rolling Stone, Blues Traveler formed in the early 1990s in Princeton, N.J.
“Like Phish and Widespread Panic, Blues Traveler emerged in the early 1990s as part of a new vanguard of jam bands in the tradition of the Grateful Dead and the Allman Brothers,” Rolling Stone wrote. The group had a top 10 hit in “Run-Around” in 1995 and other top 40 hits as well during the 1990s.
The 2014 GOSF runs from Oct. 17-19 at J.F. Gregory Park and is billed as one of the largest and most popular events of its kind in the Southeast, annually drawing around 30,000 people for seafood, games, carnival rides and music.
