"The reason for the cross" was the theme for Goldenheirs' March 4 meeting, with appropriate decorations for the covered dish luncheon and program.
In tune with the season, Zack Kirby, minister of music at First Baptist Church, presented the program, playing his guitar and singing "I Gave My Life for Thee," "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross," "Near the Cross," and "Jesus Paid It All."
Kirby is leaving to assume a new position in Shelbyville, Tenn.
After a short business meeting and a devotional by John Stetzer, George Laseter, program chairman, announced that Chief Deputy Sheriff Keith Moran would speak on seniors protecting themselves.
Goldenheirs is a senior group that meets at Hinesville First Baptist the first Tuesday in each month at noon for a covered dish lunch and a program of interest to seniors. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, April 1. All seniors in the community are invited.
