Sorority crowns Miss Jabberwock

The crowning of Ashley LeCounte as Miss Jabberwock 2008 and Mallory Roberts as Miss Delta Doll 2008 took place in the April 19 pageant presented by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Hinesville Alumnae Chapter.
LeCounte also won the title of Miss Delteen 2008 during the pageant at Brewton-Parker College in Flemington.
The coronations were a culmination of Jabberwock, a scholarship fundraising program and community talent showcase held biennially by the Hinesville Alumnae Chapter. This year's theme was "The Total Woman -- Mind, Body, Spirit."
Young women in grades ninth through 12th vied for the Miss Jabberwock and Miss Delteen titles and girls in grades first through sixth competed for the Miss Delta Doll title.
LeCounte, 16, is the daughter of Tonya and Charlie Beverly. A sophomore at Liberty County High School, she participates in JROTC and enjoys photography, dancing and singing. She plans to pursue a career in nursing.
First runner-up for Miss Jabberwock was Alyce Wells, daughter of Marcella McIntosh and James Wells. Second runner-up for the title was ShàKeya Singleton, daughter of Yolanda and Robert Brown and Stephon Singleton.
Roberts, 11, is the daughter of Molbro and Lisa Roberts. A fifth-grader at Joseph Martin Elementary, she enjoys art, dancing, singing, reading and arts and crafts. She plays softball, basketball and soccer and is a Liberty County Recreation Department cheerleader.
First runner-up for Miss Delta Doll was Mikia Frazier, daughter of Michael and Debra Frazier. Second runner-up was Kayla Fleming, daughter of Tiki T. Fleming and James D. Fleming.
