Here are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

I want to thank our Long County Sheriff’s Office for keeping our communities and our neighborhoods safe. Thank you for all your hard work. It is very much appreciated. Merry Christmas and happy New Year.

I wonder if there are any children out there who are selling the religious Christmas cards to make money. If there are, please put your name in the newspaper’s Sound off so I can get in touch with you and buy some nice religious Christmas cards.

Does your church use the NIV Bible? Why would you use a Bible translation that leaves out 155 verses and changes? And look at the other modern Bible translations that leave out words and entire passages. The King James is the most perfect Bible that was made and put out.

I have this coworker and she talks too much during the day. I think something should be done about that. For that’s how I feel.

To the person who wrote in Sunday about your mail delivery in Gum Branch: Perhaps you’d like to ask your mail carrier. They probably would tell you.

The young man who came to my yard sale on Sunday on Cherry Street looking for furniture and household items for a needy family with four children, please come back to my house. I think I have some more things they can use.
