Here are some of the issues area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the calles:

Shining shoes as a boy I read a sign. When I grew up I realized what it meant. Even a fish wouldn’t get caught if it kept its mouth shut.

Reference the Thanksgiving meal: Who is the biggest turkey, the one being carved or the person doing the eating? Happy Thanksgiving.

I don’t care how the council balanced its budget. The city budget is balanced. It don’t matter if it came out of reserves or whatever. I commend the city council members. At least taxes won’t go up this year.

With the economy such as it is, why aren’t our police traveling in pairs for better protection? And why are patrol cars not left for the next shift instead of driving them home? And, finally, why are the Dirty Harrys in Hinesville playing judge, jury and executioners of law-abiding citizens?
At the airport, they should have medical attendants for people who have prostheses and other medical problems so they won’t be embarrassed when they have to be patted down.

I sure would hate to be new in Hinesville trying to find someplace. I drove down Gen. Screven and saw only three places with addresses on them.
