We live in a county where our officials cry about funds, but we as taxpayers continue to pay for individuals to be housed in our jails for offenses that in other states may not be jailable offenses. Maybe if our county came out of the dark ages, we could have more funds in our county.

I’ve been a subscriber to the Coastal Courier for almost 20 years, and I thought initially when Sound off came into being, it would be something beneficial to the county and the cities that people live in Liberty County. After reading and listening to the recording on personal attacks, I would strongly recommend that Sound off be deleted from your paper. Sound off is nothing more than accusations of being trying to keep race, or sex, or anti-law enforcement. Everything that is in there is in the negative tone.

I think the citizens of Hinesville and other surrounding areas, we really need to think about how we’re investing our money into fast-food restaurants. What we’re finding now is that I went to a restaurant the other day, it had no running water. We are finding people not washing our hands, preparing our food and doing all kinds of food that they shouldn’t do. We need to go back to preparing meals in our homes.

Recently, someone broke into my home. I would like someone to enlighten me on the proper protocol and procedure when conducting a proper investigation. The detective assigned to my case is a ghost; having to try to track her down. No one has come to my home to lift for prints, taken photos of what was left behind or look for tire tracks.

I’m a military retiree, and during the income tax, I noticed that my annual income from 2011 to 2012 is minus $1,000 on my military retirement check. Now why would my retirement check from the military be $1,000 less? I’m curious if someone else has this experience.

I think it’s amazing that Long County High School finally has a soccer game, even though it was a fight. But I think it is pretty embarrassing that every game that our children travel to play, we get to play in all of the high school football stadiums, but Long County will not allow our soccer players to play in the football stadium. That is ridiculous and in violation of Title IV.
