Here are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

The solid-waste tax is for the county’s waste disposal. It has little to do with the city’s trash pick-up. Following too closely is illegal, regardless of what some car may or may not be doing in the left lane. Yep, we pay enough taxes that the students should not have to work for the board of education. Call the police for illegal burning, not the newspaper.

Has anybody beside me noticed that eyesore across from the library? That old mobile home wreckage has been laying on the ground since mid-November, and it’s a shame that somebody from the city can’t do something about it. It is an eyesore when I go to the library.

My son called me from high school and wanted to go to the funeral of Mr. Cecil Nobles, and I’m glad that we went. It showed a lot of friendship, it reminded me of the first day I moved to Ludowici a year ago. I met Mr. Nobles at the post office, and he was full of hospitality and fellowship.

This is the caller that called about the tailgating. There was a construction truck behind me in the right lane, on my bumper. I was following the car ahead of me at a distance of one car length that was also going 45 in a 40 mph lane.

Thank you, Fort Stewart, for the awesome dog facility out at Holbrook. Come on, Hinesville, paw up.
