Here are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

In reference to the Midway Police Department shutting down the lemonade stand, I think it’s ridiculous that the city taxpayers are paying for the police to shut down lemonade stands, but they can’t catch people who rob banks in Midway. Let these little girls sell their lemonade.

I’ve never liked the cold, but after all this heat, I think I’ll welcome the cold.

I think it’s pretty sad that the police officers in Midway treated those girls the way they did over a lemonade stand. Something has to be done about the police department in Midway.

I would like to thank the person who was so cowardly after hitting my truck in front of the tag office yesterday around 10-10:30 and drove off without giving any kind of note saying, “I hit your car.” I do appreciate them being such a coward for not coming forth.

I’d like to give a shout out to those young men and women who have been fighting the fire here in Hinesville. Thank you for your service.
