Here are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

Regarding the two calls about “If you don’t like what goes on in Ludowici, pack up and move,” that is not considerate. You want to try to shame people into doing the same thing. I love Ludowici, but I sure don’t like unprofessional politicians. What goes around comes around, so beware.

Long County needs to send some of their deputies down to Effingham so they can train with them, so they can make some drug busts. All they have here is road checks, because we never see anything about drug busts in the county.

No one should be a coach if they’re swearing at kids, putting them down and belittling them in front of other kids. The only way you have a good team is to teach teamwork and encourage kids to do better. You should change your career if you can’t encourage kids to do better.

How come Liberty County commissioners are using fire authority SPLOST funds to purchase fire trucks for Gum Branch, which should have been bought from county funds — not county SPLOST funds from the fire department.

Coach, could you please stop showing favoritism just because the eighth-grader is on a travel team. Not all parents can afford for their kid to be on one. These kids would show good potential if you stopped criticizing and yelling at them. Give them the confidence and potential they need

Could someone please explain to me why it’s perfectly alright for coaches to stand on the sideline and just string out lines of profanity and curse at the players, and it’s not alright for one student to say “bless you” in a class when someone sneezes?
