4-H Club sets summer activities

The Liberty County 4-H Club is offering summer activities for Liberty County youth, ages 9-19.

Registration is currently taking place at the Extension office at 100-A Liberty St. in Hinesville. The office is open Monday-Friday from 8-noon and 1-5 p.m.

Program fees are due at registration and are not refundable. For more information, call 876-2133 or email kaseyb@uga.edu.
Activities include:

Health Rocks! Adventure Camp
Explorers know you should always take care of your body. Learn healthy habits and earn a free backpack for participating.
Dates: June 5-6
Time: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Cost: $10, reduced cost because of a grant. You must bring a sack lunch.
Space limit: 20 participants

Crocodile Crafts
It’s time to get wild with your own jungle crafts. You’ll make four projects as well as prepare entries for the Georgia National Fair’s Invention, Recycling and Decorated Ag Product Contest.  The exhibits can be entered in the GNF in the fall to earn prize money.

Time: 1-5 p.m.
Cost: $15
Space limit: 20 participants  

Gathering Grub
Join a trip to Kennedy Farms in Glennville to harvest our own vegetables and fruits to take home.
Date: June 13
Time: 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
Cost: $15 You must bring a sack lunch.
Space limit: 30 participants

Kangaroo Kickball and More
All animals need exercise. Join an afternoon of sports and games.
Date: June 14
Time: 3-5 p.m.
Cost: $5
Space limit: 20 participants  

Hunting for History
Travel to Revolutionary Fort Morris and learn about the history of Sunbury. Trip includes free T-shirt.
Date: June 15
Time: 1-5 p.m.
Cost: $15
Space limit: 30 participants

Cub Sitting
All animals take care of their young. You can learn basic babysitting skills. The class will complete the 4-H/Army Child, Youth and School Services Babysitting Curriculum.
Date: June 19
Time: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Cost: $10 You must bring a sack lunch.
Space limit: 15 participants  

Chef Leopard’s Café
Being atop the food chain means leopards know how to prepare some tasty dishes. This class will learn basic kitchen safety and how to prepare scrumptious snacks.
Date: June 26
Time: 10-noon
Cost: $7
Space limit:  10 participants

Soothing Sounds
Learn basic music reading and about instruments. You will also make an instrument to take home.  
Date: July 10
Time: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Cost: $10 You must bring a sack lunch.
Space limit: 10 participants

Safari Time
Travel to UGA Marine Aquarium and Oatland Island for a day of animal encounters. The trip includes free T-shirt.
Date: July 17
Time: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Cost: $25 You must bring a sack lunch.
Space limit: 30 participants
Note: If you attend the Hunting for History day, you already have the T-shirt and your cost is reduced to $15.
