Archeology day at Springfield Plantation

The Springfield Plantation Archeology Project will have a field day from 3-5 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at Springfield Plantation near Sunbury.  The event will feature presentations by Columbia University students who have been studying for one month at the inaugural field school of the Springfield Plantation Archeology Project. There will be demonstrations of archaeological techniques and hands-on experimental technology. Participants can work on a dugout canoe, listen to talks and more.  The public is invited and the field day is free.
The Springfield Legacy Foundation is dedicated to the conservation of coastal Georgia’s natural and cultural resources through research and education about humans’ continuing interrelationship with landscape.
