Liberty County residents get reduced entry fees at the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum this week as part of its appreciation days.
The museum launched a series of initiations this month to encourage area residents to take advantage of what is right here at home. The museum has dedicated June as Community Appreciation Month to the Coastal Empire and Lowcounty, reducing its regular admission rate of $10 for adults and $6 for kids to only $5 for adults and $3 for kids.
Appreciation for Liberty and Tattnall county residents runs through June 15. McIntosh and Long county residents get reduced rates June 22-29.
Activated in 1942 in Savannah, the Eighth Air Force was an important strike element in World War II and remains an active force today. The museum honors the Mighty Eighth’s legacy by preserving the stories of courage, character and patriotism displayed by the men and women of the Eighth Air Force from World War II to the present.
The museum is right off I-95 at Exit 102 in Pooler. The museum is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, please visit www.mightyeighth.org or call 912-748-8888.
