SAVANNAH — The second annual Rotarians Play it Forward concert will be from 4-7 p.m. April 23 at the Morris Center at Trustees Garden in Savannah.
Ten Coastal Georgia clubs are supporting this initiative.
The title sponsor for the 2011 Rotarians Play it Forward event is Wells Fargo. The sponsorship allows virtually all other funds raised by sponsors and ticket sales to go directly to the Rotary Foundation, a 501c3 organization whose goal is to eradicate polio worldwide.
In addition, these funds will be more than doubled by the William Gates Foundation, making it a possibility for the foundation to exceed $80,000 in donations.
The concert will feature performances by prominent local musicians and Rotarians. The evening will include a Rotary Dancers presentation, food, beverages and large-screen video games.
Plans also include a silent auction featuring artwork by Rotary Club members.
“Nothing brings people together better than music,” said Dave Legasse, chairman of the 2011 PIF concert and a member of the Savannah West Club.
“The first annual event featured talent from four local Rotary Clubs. The second annual event will feature talent from 10 area Rotary Clubs. This is the first time that all 10 area clubs will collaborate on a single fundraising effort.”
The Rotary Clubs of Coastal Georgia include the Effingham Sunrise, Effingham County, Richmond Hill, Savannah (downtown), Savannah East, Savannah South, Savannah Sunrise, Savannah West, Skidaway and Pooler clubs.
Rotary Club members work to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace, eradicate polio and assist in many other local programs under the motto, “Service above self.”
