This is a concerned citizen. How can a councilman in Walthourville be stopped by the police from being in a fight, him and his girlfriend? The ethics committee should know about this. It is not right at all.

How can that letter writer run down the liberals when we've got conservatives running the White House and they've run this country into the ground over the past eight years?

If John McCain is elected, what war is he going to drag us into?

Hey, since everybody is against Hillary and Barack Obama, why don't we just elect John McCain and stay in Iraq for the next 100 years?

Welcome to Long and Liberty counties, where the taxes go up 200 to 500 percent in one year. We're taxed like Atlanta. And the water shortage is sure to come next.

Why do the real estate big shots think they are above the law? The law applies to every business owner. We can't put our signs out, neither should they.

We should boycott all the foreign owned stores that get rid of the American workers.

Whoever is calling all these bomb threats is being really funny. I hope they catch you and prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law.

With West Virginia being what it is I wouldn't have been surprised if Hillary Clinton had won 100 percent of the vote.

Hey folks, you voted. The Democrats have been in charge of the Senate and House of our country for the past two years. Look at the mess we are in since their takeover.

I was disappointed on the recreation sports section not putting any scores for the girls mite league and peewee league. There are some fine young girls playing their hearts out. And you put photos of the boys playing, but none of the girls. You need to be fair.

Where is the city council's backbone? These realtors shouldn't get special treatment. Why hire an enforcement officer if you're not going to stand behind your employees. Rules are rules.

I stopped at a fast food chain for breakfast this morning and, can you believe it, they were out of salt. That is poor management.

I read about the commission candidate running unopposed for the District 5 seat. Yet he listed his address as Azalea Street in Hinesville. Is Azalea Street in District 5? If not, how can he run. Someone clear this up, please.

The lady at the board of education meeting last night, I'd like to commend you. You've done something a lot of people have wanted to do for years. You stood up to the board. They have no right taking money from the mentally challenged children so teachers can get a rental car to go out of state. Whoever you are, I'm proud you are in our town.

I live on Ricade Drive and recently my wife and I decided to donate food through postal service. The National Association of Letter Carriers in conjunction with the U.S. Postal Service sponsor the drive to help families in need of food in our community. On May 10, my wife put a large brown bag full of food out next to our mailbox. Fifteen minutes later the bag was gone. To our amazement, the letter carrier delivered our mail 20 minutes later. To the thief, remember karma.

Reading last week's paper about the police sitting in the Pointe South area to deter crime, I wish the Liberty County Sheriff's department would come out to Briar Bay and Barrington Ferry to deter drug use and prostitution. Every evening between 5 and 7:30 it's like going down Ogeechee Road.

There is an undercurrent in the local black political community that puts Jeremiah Wright's attack on Barack Obama to shame.

I'm calling about the Rev. Wright's comments about being different, not deficient. The same should go to blacks. When you see Hispanics, we're different, not deficient.

After riding down Azalea Street, I think it would be nice if the city would put a Taco Bell on the corner of every residential neighborhood in Hinesville.

The sign ordinance in the state of Georgia says that electronic signs cannot have motion, flashing lights or movement. However, I noticed there is a new sign right here on Highway 84 that breaks all the laws. Why is that?

I was so happy to see Mrs. Carolyn Smith Carter is running for the school board. We have someone that will speak up for us. She has been a teacher, assistant principal and has taught many kids. She will be her own boss.
