Tybee Island Mardi Gras to include parade

TYBEE ISLAND — There’s no need to travel all the way to the Big Easy when on Feb. 12-13, Tybeefest will host the second annual Mardi Gras Tybee celebration on Tybee Island.
The event will include a fantasy masquerade ball at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, at Fannies on the Beach. The king and queen of the ball will be chosen by costume contest. On Saturday, Feb. 13, enjoy the Mardi Gras street party from noon-7 p.m. on Tybrisa Street, featuring the Jeff Beasley Band, All American All Star Dixieland Review and Brad Randell and the Zydeco Ballers. The Mardi Gras Tybee parade, which is at 3 p.m., will run down Butler Avenue.
Admission to the street party and parade are free. Tickets for the fantasy masquerade ball are $20 each in advance and $25 at the door. Call Fannie’s on the Beach at (912) 786-6109 for information.
