The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce has appointed Claudette Schomburg as its public information coordinator.

A news release from the chamber said Schomburg will be responsible for maintaining the community website calendar, as well as writing press releases, taking photographs, and any other duties that pertain to public communication.

"Claudette has been with us a year now as an administrative assistant, and we really felt that with everything that she has learned, as well as her great communication skills that this was logical next step in our organization for her," chamber CEO Leah Poole said.

Schomburg was raised in Liberty County. She attended Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in Lynchburg, Va., and earned a bachelor’s of arts degree in communication studies before returning to the Southeast to be closer to her family.

She lives in Hinesville with her husband and two children, and said they enjoy spending time together by exploring Liberty County or sitting by a campfire telling stories.

"I have learned so much from our chamber/CVB work team this past year, and I look forward to embracing this new role," Schomburg said.
