The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce will host Lunch and Learn on self-defense and active shooter training from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. March 9.

This workshop will be at the Liberty County Performing Arts Center.

Liberty County Sheriff’s Department personnel will discuss issues such as: active shooter awareness, incident response, workplace violence and self-defense, and give demonstrations.

It is an opportunity to prepare how to deal with a shooter and to raise awareness of behaviors that may indicate someone is considering violence.

"After holding a similar workshop in 2016, our female chamber members asked for us to add some basic self-defense training as well," Chamber/CVB CEO Leah Poole said. "Knowing that as women professionals we sometimes unintentionally put ourselves in harm’s way, we are hopeful this workshop will help both men and women with some basic techniques."

The workshop luncheon costs $10 for members and $20 for others, cost includes lunch. Seating is limited. Registration is required. Reserve a seat by emailing operations@libertycounty.org or by calling 912.368.4445.
