Mike Reed, general manager of NeSmith Chevrolet here, announced Wednesday that the dealership is providing welcome home gift bags for 1,700 deployed soldiers returning to Fort Stewart from Iraq in the coming months.
The bags include personal care items such as toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, shaving cream, razors and more. Coupons from NeSmith Chevrolet for a free car wash, discounted oil change and $500 off the purchase of any new vehicle will be included as well.
"NeSmith Chevrolet in Hinesville provides ongoing support to the families and soldiers of the 3rd ID year round," Reed said. "We really appreciate what the soldiers do for all of us and we want to have something nice waiting for them when the step off the plane after months of sacrifice for our country."
Reed said the dealership will continue to work with the Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield's Morale Welfare and Recreation and Better Opportunities For Single Soldiers Program to offer the gift bags to the troops when they return.
NeSmith Chevrolet is on Highway 84 East in Flemington. The NeSmith Automotive Group is comprised of four dealerships including NeSmith Chevrolet Buick Pontiac GMC in Claxton, NeSmith Chevrolet here, NeSmith-Walker Chevrolet in Jesup and NeSmith Select in Statesboro.
Martin NeSmith pioneered what the dealership calls "no hassle buying" in 1991, being the third automotive dealership in the nation to move toward a more customer focused business approach.
