SAVANNAH — The Comcast Foundation donated $2,480 to the Economic Opportunity Authority for Savannah-Chatham Inc.’s Head Start program and $820 to Liberty County Head Start.
Donations were made on behalf of employees and family members who recently helped the organizations on Comcast Cares Day, a national day of service that drew more than 50,000 volunteers.
More than 180 area Comcast employees helped clean and repair Head Start centers in Savannah and Hinesville.
Head Start is a federal program that assists young children and their families. It is funded by government grants and community contributions.
The Comcast Foundation invests in programs intended to have a positive, sustainable impact on their communities; mostly through volunteerism, literacy and youth leadership development. Nationwide, the foundation awarded more than $1.5 million in grants for participants in Comcast Cares Day on April 25.
