Downtown businesses having holiday open house

In an effort to showcase Hinesville’s holiday spirit and encourage residents to take advantage of local holiday shopping opportunities, the first of two downtown holiday open houses opens today from 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
“Downtown merchants have been busy decorating and displaying their holiday merchandise and are excited to host the community,” said Vicki Davis, Hinesville Downtown Development Authority director. “Thirteen participants will have specials, in-house prizes.”
There also will be a chance for patrons to win gift packages donated by downtown merchants by obtaining an entry card (from any of the participating shops) and getting a stamp of approval by all of the participating merchants. Winners will be drawn from the pile of completed and submitted cards.
The second Downtown Open House will coincide with Christmas in the Park on Dec. 1 and will also feature visits with Santa, a live reindeer display, ornament making, cookie decoration, refreshments, carolers, and other holiday activities.
