Recently, I had the privilege of visiting some of the Liberty County educational facilities through the bus tour offered by the Liberty County Board of Education. Our group traveled to the Liberty College and Career Academy, Bradwell Institute, Olvey Field and the Performing Arts Center.
The renovations and innovations taking place at these locations are amazing. Being a relative newcomer to Hinesville and with no school-age children yet, I was encouraged to see that Liberty County is making such a significant investment in education and the well-being of its young people.
I was amazed at the College and Career Academy’s facilities and the classes, such as nursing, culinary arts and aircraft maintenance (to name a few) that are taught to prepare students for life after high school should college not be their chosen path.
Bradwell Institute is proud of its remodeling and transition into a safe, prestigious learning environment, which was encouraging for this newcomer to see.
I enjoyed viewing the artwork of some very talented students and going to the band room where the new band director has a clear vision of making his students enthusiastic about music and sustaining a championship band.
It’s important to note is that he is also a graduate of the Liberty County public school system.
The Performing Arts Center is a beautiful facility with a theater and plenty of space to display artwork of any form. The full kitchen is a perk and provides an incentive for the community to use the center as a showcase for art and theatrical events, as well as possible conferences and other opportunities. I was very impressed with the modernization of these facilities and the use of current technology in the classrooms.
Giving students the opportunity to learn in a comprehensive environment can only help the business community in the long run once the students join the workforce.
Thank you to the Liberty County Board of Education for allowing me to tour and letting me see the community’s investment in education at work.
