The Liberty Square Plaza in Hinesville is getting a facelift to accommodate a new department store, which may just add a boost of fresh consumerism.
The old Winn Dixie supermarket is being renovated to house a new Peebles Department store that will open on Nov. 15, Vice President of Store Operations Roger Blanchard said.
“Peebles brings name brand fashions for the entire family to small towns,” Blanchard said. “The store will feature clothing, a decorative home department and Estee Lauder and Clinique make up counters.”
The store will be 20,000 sq. ft., and it will employ about 20 people, Blanchard added.
Apart from Peebles, the plaza is also undergoing some facade renovations, which will take another 30 days to complete, City Director of Inspections Steve Welborn said.
“We look forward to welcoming the new store into Hinesville, and hopefully, it will help simplify the shopping needs of our residents,” City Manager Billy Edwards said.
Welborn said The Heritage Bank will also be expanding their offices to the plaza location as well, however, it will not be a new bank location.
The Winn Dixie store here closed two years ago as part of a restructuring of the corporation when it went into bankruptcy. Other stores in the shopping center, however, remained open.
