Bassano’s Italian Eatery hosted a grand opening/ribbon cutting in conjunction with the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, Feb. 9, at the restaurant, 720 E. Oglethorpe Highway in Hinesville.
Owner Bonnita Morrison welcomed family, elected city officials, customers, chamber staff and ambassadors to the event.
“We are thrilled to bring authentic Italian cuisine to Hinesville,” Morrison said.
She said the menu and restaurant décor were designed to mirror what would be found in Italy. Menu items were inspired by true Italian cuisine, with assistance from her mother-in-law, who is a European native.
Bassano’s Italian Eatery offers a full menu, including appetizers, salads, main dishes and desserts. Bassano’s offers two varieties of their marinara sauce: a special Italian spaghetti sauce and a more traditional American sauce. Customers can request samples of the sauces prior to ordering. Items such as roasted red pepper and gouda bisque, chicken alfredo lasagna and seafood portofino are on the menu.
A buffet also is available during lunch hours. Gourmet coffee selections are available, as are select alcoholic beverages.
“Having lived in Europe myself, I can truly appreciate the wonderful atmosphere and menu selections at Bassano’s,” Hinesville’s Mayor Jim Thomas said.
Thomas commended Bassano’s for its community support and focused on its contributions within the downtown business district.
“We welcome you to the chamber. We are here for you and support your new business,” said Barbara Martin-VanDuser, treasurer of the chamber’s executive board of directors.
Those in attendance were entered into a drawing for a $50 Bassano’s gift certificate.
