The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for the 2013-14 class of Leadership Liberty.
Leadership Liberty is entering its ninth year. Class participants take part in an eight-month class, meeting at least once per month and learning about various functions of the community including county government, city government, public health, public education, tourism, economic development and more. There also is a session that includes overnight travel to Atlanta to watch state government in action and meet with elected leaders.
Cost to participate is $650 for the entire session and includes all overnight accommodation and food, as well as transportation to Atlanta.
Since its inception with the 2004-05 class, Leadership Liberty has graduated some 100 participants who either live or work in Liberty County. The participants also have taken part in the leadership modules provided by the Fanning Institute of Leadership at the University of Georgia.
“I strongly encourage our business leaders to take part in this program, so that better relationships between the business community and our local government can be built,” chamber CEO Leah Poole said. “I believe it is very valuable learning how local government entities work and the huge challenges a growing community like Liberty County faces.”
To nominate someone today or to receive an application, call Poole at 368-4445 or email director@libertycounty.org.
