The Board of the Georgia Academy for Economic Development recently congratulated four Liberty County graduates from the 2015 Region 12 Multi-day Training Program. Class participants represented a number of economic development fields, including elected officials, public servants, business leaders, educators and social-service providers, from 10 coastal Georgia counties.

Liberty’s graduates are Hinesville Main Street program coordinator Hollie Barnidge, Georgia Power Company distribution supervisor Eddie Walden, Liberty County Development Authority project manager Sabrina Reed and Hargray Communications major account representative Phillip Scroggin.

The academy tries to give graduates an understanding of the economic and community development.

Created in 1993, the academy assembles a cross section of economic-development professionals and resources to provide the training across  the state. Georgia EMC and Georgia Power provide facilitators, and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs provides staff support.

“One of the goals for the multi-day regional academies is to encourage multi-county cooperation,” said Corinne Thornton, the director of the Georgia Academy for Economic Development.

The next Region 12 Georgia Academy for Economic Development will begin in August. For more information, call Jennifer Fordham at 912-531-1746 or email her at jennifer.fordham@dca.ga.gov.
