The Hinesville Area Board of Realtors donated hats and gloves to the Liberty County School System to help keep students in need warm.
The board presented the items to the school system at a luncheon earlier this month at the Performing Arts Center.
Angela Powell, HABR president, said they were concerned about children not having hats and mittens with the cold weather.
"We do know that there are some children out there that don’t have that," Powell said, "We want to help and give back to the community."
Dr. Kathy Moody, LCSS executive director of student services, thanked board members on behalf of the district.
"Those morning are often chilly and those students often have to wait 15-20 minutes at the bus stop in the morning," Moody said. "So those hats and mittens will truly benefit students in need. We have about 200 homeless families that we serve in Liberty County."
The donated items will be distributed through school social workers to families in need.
