The Marne Community and Spouses Club had a ribbon cutting, hosted by the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce on Friday.

The ceremony was at the chamber office, 208 E. Court St., Hinesville.

Chamber CEO Leah Poole welcomed MCSC President Nina Elison and First Vice President Jenny Petersen on behalf of the chamber board and staff.

Elison talked about what MCSC means to Liberty County, and announced the club’s upcoming Boots and Baskets, a silent auction that is one of many of the club’s fundraisers. The funds are used for scholarships or grants to area residents, as well as to families of soldiers.

“The Marne Community and Spouses Club focuses on bettering the communities where our military families live and work. We are excited to have the support of all of the communities surrounding Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Air Field,” Petersen said.

Membership is open to all DoD ID cardholders, as well as area residents. The monthly meetings are at 11 a.m. the second Tuesday of each month. To learn more about the club, its volunteers and philanthropic opportunities, call 678-859-8005 or visit its website at www.marnecommunityclub.com.
