Scott Richardson with Hampton Island, an exclusive housing development near Riceboro, addressed the Hinesville Rotary Club at its weekly meeting on Jan. 29. During the 18th and 19th centuries, the island was a rice and cotton plantation. It later served as a Confederate outpost during the Civil War. Memberships to Hampton Island are $150,000, and more than half of the memberships include a homesite. Members are able to enjoy amenities such as the spas, an equestrian center, Davis Love III-designed golf course, an organic farm, boating and fishing.
