Think you’ve got tool skills? Here’s your chance to prove it and drive home with a truck-full of prizes.
The Hinesville Fastenal industrial and construction supply store will host the local running of Fastenal’s nationwide “Ultimate Drive Challenge” during its a sale on May 23. The challenge will be to sink three screws into wood and three screws into metal using a cordless impactor and then ratchet down a 1-inch nut onto a strut as quickly as possible.
The top-10 fastest “drivers” nationwide will be flown to Homestead, Fla., to compete in Fastenal’s “Ultimate Drive Off,” the winner of which will “drive off” in a new Dodge 1500 Laramie (MSRP, $34,335) packed with tools and gear from DeWalt, Danaher, JOBOX, Delta, Kimberly Clark and Fastenal. The prize package is estimated at $50,000.
The challenge will be the centerpiece of the store’s one-day sale that will feature giveaways and door prizes, product demonstrations, a complimentary lunch, promotional items, and 20 percent savings on everything in the store. The sale will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the contest will run from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Fastenal store is at 229 W. General Screven Way.
“It’s going to be a good time for everybody, whether you compete or not,” said organizer Darrell Bates.
