State Chamber recruiting

For the 11th consecutive year, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce has embarked on a statewide membership campaign that leaders hope will move the 95-year business organization closer to its goal of 5,000 members.
Since 1997, volunteers, representing 35-40 Georgia Chamber member-companies, have taken the state chamber message into all corners of Georgia each year to recruit new members.
A decade of campaigns has resulted in a 150 percent increase in membership and generated funds to improve and expand member services. That process began again on June 20, when campaign workers and state chamber leaders gathered in Atlanta to officially kick off Team Georgia Chamber ’07.
For the more than 500 volunteers who have suited up to take part in this year’s drive, the occasion was part luncheon and part rally. Leading the cheers was Dr. J. David Allen, founder and president of Dr. J. David Allen and Associates, consultants to the Healthcare Industry and 2007 chairman of the 4,200-member state chamber. He reminded campaign workers that the goals for this year’s drive are $1,750,000 and 700 new members.
“As the only statewide organization that advocates a pro-business position on legislative and public policy issues,” he said, “we have an obligation to be inclusive and a commitment to take the lead on matters that affect our member’s bottom line.”
The campaign concludes in mid-November with a victory celebration in Atlanta.
