City reports a second wastewater spill

HINESVILLE, Ga. (July 16, 2021) – The City of Hinesville Public Works / ESG Operations, Inc. reported a sewage spill of 7.18 million gallons of partially treated wastewater at the Ft. Stewart Wastewater Treatment Plant on July 16, 2021. The cause of the spill was due to a mixer failing to cycle off. The area has been cleaned and the equipment repaired. Additionally, the EPD and health department have been notified. 

A wastewater spill was also reported on Wednesday, July 7, at 9:30 p.m. as the height of Tropical Storm Elsa moved through the area.
