Early V oting In Liberty County early voting started May 2, 2022 and continues until May 20, Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Liberty County Community Complex, 9397 E. Oglethorpe Highway, Midway, 31320. Early voting will also take place, same dates and times, at the Main Office at 100 N Main Street, Suite 1600 Hinesville, 31313.

In Long County early voting will take place now through May 20 at the Mary Ann Odum Annex at 75 West Academy Street, Ludowici from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monda y through Friday and from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturdays.

United Way of the Coastal Empire will host its 2022 Annual Meeting on May 17, 2022, from 11:30 – 1:00 pm at the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort at 1 Resort Drive on Hutchinson Island. The luncheon event will celebrate the success of the 2021-2022 Campaign and mark the transition of UWCE’s Board Leadership. During the event, United Way will also recognize the Craig Harney Spirit of Philanthropy Award honorees.

Individual seats and tables are now on sale. Individual seats are $55 and tables of 10 are available for $500. Sponsorships for the Annual Meeting are also available. For more information, visit United Way’s website at www.uwce.org.

Liberty County Sigma’s of Phi Beta Sigma in partnership with the Hinesville Police and Liberty County Sherriff’s Department is hosting a 5k run/walk on May 22, 2022 at James A Brown Park. The 5k is a proactive approach to help bridge the gap between law enforcement and local community. District 4 city councilman and congressional Democratic primary winner Joyce Briggs will be in attendance.

200 Club of the Coastal Empire run for heroes. This year’s 2022 Pooler Run for Heroes will take place on Saturday, May 28. The multi-heat event begins at 8 a.m. on South Rogers Street in Pooler. The onemile course will begin at the Pooler Parks and Recreation Department, finishing at West Chatham Middle School. All participants are instructed to park at the finish, West Chatham Middle School. Registration is $25 through May 7. The fee increases to $30 on May 8, and $35 on May 22-28. Entry is free for military, first responders and their families. All proceeds from the race will go to assist the 200 Club in fulfilling its mission to assist families of first responders who die or suffer critical injuries in the line of duty.
