Liberty County officials  declared a state of emergency Tuesday evening and issued a voluntary evacuation order for residents who live east of I-95. Here's what the email from Liberty County Emergency Management said:

“The Board of Commissioners of Liberty County, pursuant to the Georgia Emergency Management Act of 1981 and Liberty County Code 6-22, has officially declared a State of Emergency in Liberty County. Pursuant to provisions of the aforesaid chapter, the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners concurs with GEMHSA recommendations to issue  a VOLUNTARY EVACUATION OF AREAS EAST OF I-95 IN LIBERTY COUNTY  EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY.

Residents are asked to prepare accordingly and to stay advised  of changing conditions  which may warrant additional releases and changes to recommendations issued by the Commission. “
