East-end sewage plant to be topic

The proposed $30 million wastewater treatment facility for eastern Liberty County will be the subject of a development authority meeting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
The plant will handle flow from the Liberty County Development Authority’s Tradeport East Business Center and the water and sewer service delivery area allocated to the LCDA by the state Department of Community Affairs.
The treated water coming out of the plant can be used for irrigation and other non-drinking uses. What is not reused will be discharged to surface waters.
An Environmental Information Document for the project has been prepared and is available at the LCDA office at 425 N. Oglethorpe Highway in Hinesville.
The Georgia EPD says public participation is essential prior to final approval of the EID and public comments can be submitted in writing to the authority at the above address.
The required public meeting on the project is set for Nov. 7, 5-7 p.m. at the authority office.
