The children at the Hinesville Housing Authority at Regency Place were treated to baskets full of Easter goodies handed out by the United Way of Coastal Georgia, Liberty Branch.
UWCE, Liberty Branch Director Kristin Hopkins-Graham said the deliveries was the first of several other initiatives they plan to hold during Volunteer Appreciation Month.
Hopkins-Graham said items were donated from Target, the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce and several private donors. They managed to deliver 50 baskets to kids in the HHA community.
“We’ve been working on this for about a month and a half,” she said. “It was kind of easy because we have a great volunteer group here in Liberty County. We have over 2100 hours of volunteerism throughout the year from different volunteers throughout the community.”
She said other programs are being held in Liberty County, Effingham County, Chatham County and Bryan County during Volunteer Month.
