Waldo Pafford Elementary School art teacher Carol Hough recently had her fifth-grade students study the art of Wayne Thiebaud.
After viewing his work, the students tried their hand at designing cakes.
“What fun they had seeing how their artistic talents can be turned into a life time hobby or career,” Hough said.
Several other classes voted on their favorites and the top six drawings were honored. The top layer of the first place cake was made into a real cake, which the top six students enjoyed sharing.
“With the new career academy opening in Liberty, maybe we are looking at future culinary artists, the aces of cakes,” Hough said.
The winners were 1. Makiyah Anthony, 2. Stormie Crivelle, 3. Jennesiss Copeda, 4. Bradley Coatley, 5. Danyelle Perry, 6. Miya Croft.
