Gyms get vinyl floors

Dressed out in T-shirts and shorts, Snelson-Golden Middle School students review expectations for physical education classes Aug. 12.
A few days after the start of school, SGMS and Lewis Frasier Middle School reopened the newly renovated gym.
Jason Rogers, assistant superintendent for administrative services, said he and the other board administrators were very pleased with the wall-to-wall, vinyl-like wood floor.
"The teachers seem to be very pleased too," Rogers said. "They think this is going to provide a safer learning environment for [the students]."
Rogers said the new synthetic material lessens the general maintenance of the floors and has a 20-year warranty.
The board will consider carpet replacement or putting the same flooring in the elementary schools gyms.
