Holiday play at Frank Long
FLE Christmas
Pictured (l-r): Kierra Crocker, a customer at Owen’s Christmas Tree Farm; Jamia Woods, playing Firsten; and Abigail Riley Hall, another Christmas tree customer.
Take a break from all the hustle and bustle of the holiday season with music and a play at Frank Long Elementary School’s fourth and fifth grade PTO Showcase.
Beginning at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, pancakes and sausage will be served in the cafeteria as the chorus, headed by Matthew Baggarly, regales those present with several holiday selections, including “Deck the Halls.”
Afterwards, guests will sing carols as they stroll down to the gymnasium for an original Christmas play entitled “The Last Christmas Tree.”
In the play, a Scrooge-like tree named Firsten, played by fifth grader Jamia Woods, demeans all of the other trees at Owen’s Christmas Tree Farm for being in the Christmas spirit.
When Whitney, played by fifth grader Keyozaj Wells, tells Firsten it’s just nice to be needed at Christmas, Firsten replies, “Needed? You mean the oxygen we provide isn’t enough?”
To discover whether Firsten ever really gets into the Christmas spirit, come out and enjoy the play. Bring a few dollars and you can enjoy some delicious hot cocoa and a sugar cookie you can decorate.
Proceeds for the cocoa and cookies sales will go toward the fifth grade field trip to the Jekyll Island 4-H Center.
