Liberty County High School senior Jeremy Fermin got a special treat at Disney Grad Nite on April 28. The Hinesville resident was chosen from a crowd of thousands of graduates at the Magic Kingdom Park to meet the band Cartel and receive an autographed Taylor guitar.
“I’ve never won anything in my life,” Fermin said. “I know every song they sing and they are as good in concert as they are on CD.”
For nearly four decades, the Magic Kingdom Park has transformed its magical lands into a graduate-only, private party featuring chart-topping entertainment, unlimited use of select attractions and memories to last a lifetime.
“Disney Grad Nite is awesome. I only have a few more days of being a senior and I wanted to do something different to celebrate graduation,” Fermin said.
“Over the last 35 years the Magic Kingdom Park has hosted hundreds of thousands of graduates,” said Tim Hill, director of special programs for Disney Destinations, LLC. “And Disney Grad Nite has staged premier entertainment for each generation including the ’70s stars Kool and the Gang, ’80s rap artists Run DMC, ’90s pop princess Britney Spears and last years rock sensation Fall Out Boy.”
This year’s line-up included Grammy award nominees The Fray with its platinum-selling album “How to Save a Life,” Cartel, Miami reggaeton artist Cheskob and singer-model Cassie.
Once inside the Magic Kingdom, seniors got soapy with friends in the Foam Zone in Fantasyland, danced on the Josten’s Dreamboat Cruise and celebrated throughout the theme park as deejays played a variety of music.
“The Magic Kingdom team spends the entire year planning the event and works hard to turn the Theme Park into a giant nightclub. The graduates can also play free arcade games all night in Tomorrowland and enjoy one of the event highlights, the Class of 2007 lights-out fireworks display,” Hill said.
