Reidsville - Two Bradwell Institute students were awarded the Canoochee EMC Foundation Inc. scholarship at an award ceremony Monday night at Bradwell Institute.
Holly Aversano and Justin Leachman both received a $1000 scholarship for the time and effort they invested in their respective scholastic careers. Canoochee EMC board member Connie Thrift presented the scholarships during the ceremony.
Canoochee EMC is proud of these students, and wishes them success with their college careers, Thrift said.
The Canoochee EMC foundation scholarship comes from Canoochee EMC's members. Roughly 70 percent of the foundation's members participate in the Operation Round Up program, agreeing to round up their bills to the next whole dollar and donate the excess money to a fund that helps individuals or organizations in need.
The foundation created its scholarship in 2005 and bestowed the award upon 17 students this year.
