Midway Middle School is prepping students for the upcoming CRCT standardized test in a month long celebration called March Madness.
The administration and faculty are packing as many opportunities as they can to help sharpen the academic skills students will need during testing week.
But they have made sure to keep students motivated in the process.
A CRCT Question of the Day, customized for each grade level, is broadcasted over the school's closed-circuit television system for students to submit correct responses to the media center.
A winner is drawn from each grade level and receives a prize from MMS principal Debra Frazier.
The school is also encouraging positive behavior with their Caught Being Good program.
Teachers nominate students who show good behavior by writing the student's name on a shamrock. The shamrocks are displayed on a bulletin board in the hallway and the names put in a drawing. Prizes for winners included MP3 players, Wal-Mart gift certificates and CD boom boxes.
Midway Middle School also hosted Keith Brown during an assembly on March 14.
The motivational speaker interacted with students through modern music, dance and an original rap he performed. The song stressed that the students are capable of getting an education and behaving well.
The faculty was also engaged and called "the real heroes of our world" and "one of the greatest champions of their students."
Brown had students thank their teachers for educating and disciplining them.
