Students at Snelson-Golden Middle School recently participated in career day.
Career day is when eighth-grade students get to explore careers they are interested in as rising high-school freshmen, especially with the opening of the career academy next school year. Eighth-graders are encouraged to choose a pathway or cluster of specific elective classes to pursue in high school, and this event allowed students to listen to and ask questions of community members in specific careers.
Students heard what is involved in the career, learned how much schooling is required and even received hands-on experience. The students chose three careers that interested them and participated in three 50-minute sessions.
The community members who participated included:
Omar Walton (Mr. HookCiTi): rapper/musician
Bill North: Air Force
Diana McFadden: Navy
John Haas: Hinesville Fire Department
