Student graduates Mercer, honored by school

Brandon Standard of Allenhurst graduated from Mercer University with a Bachelor of Science in biology and a minor in chemistry during the school’s spring 2015 commencement.

Additionally, Standard recently was recognized during the Mercer Student Leadership Awards with a Bear Award for Outstanding Campus Involvement. He was the president of the QuadWorks Campus Activities Board, which is responsible for planning more than 70 events per academic year.

He also was a peer adviser with the Office of Academic and Advising Services, serving as a mentor to students throughout their freshman years as they transitioned from high school into college. Standard was on the QuadWorks Board during his four years at Mercer and served as a peer advisor for three years.

Also, Standard was named to the president’s list of Mercer’s College of Liberal Arts for the spring 2015 semester for meeting grade-point-average standards specific to the college.
