For the past nine years, the students at Taylors Creek Elementary have collected soda tabs to raise money for the Liberty Humane Shelter. This year, students collected 52 and a half gallons of tabs. Sherry Townsend’s class collected the most tabs and won a pizza party.
Students also recycle cans, plastic and paper, and the school saves Capri Sun-type drink pouches and ink cartridges, which are turned in for money that is donated to the shelter. The pouches are worth 2 cents each and the cartridges vary by size.
