Recently, I took my power sprayer out of the shed so I could use it to do some spring cleaning.
But there was a problem. I couldn’t get it to start.
I put new gas in it, I cleaned out the gas bowl below the carburetor and checked the spark plug. Nothing worked so I put it back into the shed.
At church I mentioned it to Joe, one of our church members who works on things like this for a living. He told me one simple thing to do: clean out a small hole in a bolt that holds the bowl under the carburetor.
I went home Sunday and tried it and, behold, I now have a power sprayer that works.
Sometimes people try everything they can think of to establish a relationship with God. They try to do as many good things for others as possible.
They try to start going to church or to be more faithful. They might even join a church. They stop doing bad things and start doing some right things.
The truth of the matter is that it is not a hard thing to figure out. The scripture tells a story of a man who asked the question, “What must I do in order to be saved?”
The answer for him is the same simple answer as to any of us. He said in Acts 16:31, “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.”
If you are looking for a relationship with God – the road that will end you up in heaven – he is not hard to find.
