Flemington city council conducted its regular monthly meeting Oct. 9. Below is a list of the agenda items.
• The city was awarded a certificate of appreciation by Leah Poole and Kenny Smiley of the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce for its sponsorship and contribution to Liberty Fest 2007. Both Poole and Smiley pointed out Flemington’s tourism dollars helped reach past the county lines to bring in more people.
• Police officer Guy Pagliolo said it had been fairly quiet during the month of September and noted the police cruiser will need a new in-car video system soon. Councilman Paul Hawkins made a motion to approve up to $4,000 that will include an extended warranty for the new video system.
• A business license request was approved for San Patel of Fairfield Inn & Suites Marriott on East Oglethorpe Highway. The Hinesville Fire Department and Liberty County Planning Commission still have to perform final inspections.
• Rene Harwell was appointed to serve on the Hinesville Area Metropolitan Planning Organization citizens advisory committee.
• Mayor Sandra Martin said she and Paul Hawkins met with Hinesville city manager Billy Edwards about adding Old Sunbury Road and the portion of Old Hines Road off of Highway 84 to the maintenance contract. Martin said she has not yet received the new proposal.
The next meeting is scheduled for Nov. 13.
